A Beginner's First Night Trek to Harishchandragad

What a first-timer should actually expect on a weekend night trek to the Konkan Kada — the climb, the cave stay, and that unforgettable sunrise.

There’s a moment on Harishchandragad, just before dawn, when the whole group goes quiet. You’ve walked through the night, your legs are tired, and then the sky over the Konkan Kada starts to glow — and suddenly none of it matters. Getting there. Most of our batches leave Nagpur by private transport on Friday night and begin the climb in the early hours. The Pachnai route is the gentlest and best for first-timers; expect 2–3 hours of steady walking with a few rocky sections. The cave stay. Near the top, the Kedareshwar cave and the fort plateau give you a place to rest. Carry a headlamp, a light jacket for the wind, and at least two litres of water. Sunrise at Konkan Kada. This is why you came. The curved cliff drops into a sea of clouds, and on a clear morning the view runs for miles. Stay behind the marked edge — the drop is real. Should you do it? If you can walk 8–10 km with a small backpack, yes. Go with a group that knows the route, start early, and don’t rush the descent. Ready to see it yourself?
